My art is about discovering who I am as an artist. It's impossible to separate myself from my work. I seek to understand what it means to be an artist to define myself as a person enveloped within that role of 'artist.' All that I see is filter by my thought and emotions and then applied to my canvas. My paintings are intensely linked to my emotions frame of mind. I translate form and shape into geometry in order to simplify the complexity of the object. Dependent upon the subject matter and its surroundings my work can express controlled geometry and or painterly aggression, both of which may live in my work to some extent. Through the creation process I experience a need to emphasize one style or another dependent upon emotional and observational factors of that subject. In time with time and concentration I will live in a place where the two are in equal balance of each other.
